Club History Elton & Walshaw Junior Football Club was originally formed in 1999 to afford both girls and boys in the local community the opportunity to play mini soccer on an organised basis, however since its initial inception the club has expanded considerably to one of the biggest junior football clubs in the Bury area and now accommodates all age groups from 7 to 17 and a flourishing Soccer School for players 4years and over. Currently in the 2011/12 Season we have 18 teams of various age groups playing either 7v7, 9v9 or 11v11 football in local leagues. New for the 2011/12 Season the Club facilitated the establishment of an Open Age (Adult) team known as Elton & Walshaw FC. Elton & Walshaw JFC is affiliated to both the Lancashire FA and the All teams are managed by FA qualified coaches thus providing a professional but more importantly safe and secure environment for the enhancement of football at the grass routes level. Whilst historically our home was in the Elton / Walshaw area the size of the club and the facilities needed have dictated a move to a new location that can provide a more reliable, accessible and centrally located footballing offer. Our spiritual home will always be in the Elton and Walshaw area, as our club name suggests, however, our new home which uses the playing fields of Our Partnerships don’t stop there and most recently the Club has developed strong mutually beneficial links with Our Footballing Philosophy Some Clubs may measure their success in terms of the number of cups and trophies in their 'trophy cabinets' but we consider our success to be measured by the pleasure and opportunity given to local youngsters and them having the chance to participate in regular organised football activities. This isn't to say we don't strive to achieve honours each season, (we actually do) but we don't want to sacrifice participation in the search for glory. We are an inclusive club which supports and nurtures local talent which enables players to be the best they possibly can be. |
